Mixed-use new build regeneration project within a constrained urban setting.
We designed the development, consisting of 8 retail units, 28 apartments and 9 houses to sit comfortably within the existing urban context. The design allows for completion in a phased sequence, allowing the demolition and clearance of the existing shops / apartments without disruption.
We developed the scheme in collaboration with the local community, commercial tenants and the developer to ensure that all existing facilities will remain in continuous use throughout the construction period and keeping the community intact.
The size, scale and siting of this contemporary project will provide a vibrant, sustainable and affordable project for the local community.
This has been a great example of working with the client and their customers to resolve the issues of constructing a new development on a constrained site. The new scheme will provide 21st century accommodation and retail units which addresses the fundamental design failures of the previous 1950s scheme.
