We are looking for an experienced, dependable and hardworking technologist to join our recently opened London office.

Following the growth of our Manchester based practice to over 100 people, we have opened the doors to a new satellite office in London. This poses a unique and exciting opportunity to join an established practice looking to expand and build on the significant number of projects already underway in London.

The role will involve working predominantly on residential re-cladding projects across all RIBA stages, but with a focus on Stages 4 and 5, as part of a wider team also covering other sectors.

As part of the role, you will be expected to:

  • Lead the technical design and coordination of a number of projects across all RIBA Stages
  • Produce yourself and / or supervise others in the preparation of technical design information including drawings, details, specifications and other relevant documentation and reports.
  • Lead design team meetings, produce meeting reports and positively contribute to all project meetings.
  • Respond and resolve to site queries and attend site as required to review construction works against quality and statutory compliance.

The role may also involve the management and supervising of more junior members of the team to achieve the best possible results, depending on the experience of the chosen candidate.

Previous experience working on residential re-cladding projects, including HRBs, is desirable given the nature of the role. However, this is not essential as long as the candidate can show sufficient transferable skills and experience. The ideal candidate will likely therefore:

  • Have 7+ years experience working as a Technologist / Senior Technologist on commercial or large residential projects.
  • Demonstrate excellent all round technical ability, and particularly be comfortable in developing bespoke construction details to solve technical problems.
  • Be confident in the use of Revit and AutoCAD (a pre-interview Revit test will be issued to shortlisted candidates).
  • Hold a thorough working knowledge of the UK planning process and building regulations, including the recent changes to regulations under the BSA.
  • Have strong teamworking skills, a strong worth ethic and willingness to go the extra mile.
  • Demonstrate clear and confident communication skills (verbal, written and listening).
  • Show good emotional intelligence and empathy, with the ability to establish positive rapport with others.

Alongside the opportunity to both work and lead on a variety of exciting projects, the successful candidate will join an enthusiastic, friendly and dynamic architectural practice. We put our people at the core of the business, with emphasis on a healthy work-life balance and encouraging a collaborative company culture – something we call AEW Plus.
