With the successful bidders for the second round of the Government’s Levelling Up Fund announced, we were delighted to see our Accrington town centre project for Hyndburn Borough Council secure £20 million of funding.
Working closely with the Council and the Bid Team, we developed proposals for three projects which formed the basis of the LUF bid. These were Accrington Market Hall, Market Chambers and Burton’s Chambers.
The market hall will be refurbished and transformed into a food and drink destination for local people – targeted at enticing the next generation and a new audience to the town. The Market Chambers building, opposite the Market Hall, would be acquired, refurbished, and repaired – with the ultimate aim to transform it into a cultural, arts and heritage venue. The Art Deco Burton’s Chambers building, opposite the Town Hall, would also be purchased and restored to become a co-working space for businesses and events. It is hoped that the three projects will be a catalyst for kick-starting the wider transformation of Accrington town centre.
This is the third successful public funding bid we have supported, having previously worked with Stockport Council and Bury Council to gain investment for their town centre regeneration projects. To discuss these projects, or your own requirements, please contact Director Phil Hepworth.
