AEW Achieves a Hat-Trick of Industrial Successes

Following a busy period for our specialist team, we were delighted to see three industrial schemes reach major milestones in recent weeks. Gemini8, Warrington reached practical completion, we secured new work at the Daresbury supercomputing centre and planning was approved for a new forge press in Sheffield.
Gemini8 Business Park in Warrington is a 119,600 sq ft development which saw us work closely with Caddick Construction to design and deliver 18 Grade A industrial units ranging from 3,900 to 16,500 sqft. The units have been designed to maximise operational efficiency to suit a wide range of end user requirements, providing a mezzanine level office at the front of the building and a general warehouse area on the ground floor. The scheme is a joint venture between developer Chancerygate and Hines.
In Daresbury, we have been appointed by Russell WBHO to support them in the construction of a 33,000 sqft supercomputing centre. This temperature-controlled facility – which will help facilitate innovation in digital technology and expertise in computing, data science and artificial intelligence – is the latest addition to the Science and Technology Facilities Council’s Daresbury Laboratory.
Meanwhile in Sheffield, planning has been granted for the construction of a new building to house the UK’s largest open-die forging press for Sheffield Forgemasters. The new 135,000 sq ft structure will sit adjacent to the existing forge building and will house a new 13,000 tonne press. A target date of 2025 has been set for the completion of works and the new forging press to be in operation.
Director Alex Southall has said:
“It’s great to see these projects reach these key milestones. The scale and diversity shows the breadth and depth of AEW’s expertise in the industrial and logistics sector and we look forward to seeing them progress.”
