Celebrating the opening of Arden Square

Earlier this month, we were delighted to join our client and other project partners to celebrate the opening of our latest office project at Arden Square, Crewe. The 44,000 sqft, BREEAM Excellent, office will be the new global headquarters for our repeat client Radius’ telematics division.
The opening follows many years of hard work by our team, having originally achieved planning for the building back in 2018. Following the pandemic, we revised our proposals and achieved approval for a variation in 2021. Construction commenced in 2022, led by Caddick, resulting in the building opening in April of this year.
Director lead, Phil Hepworth, said of the project: “It’s not often you get a chance to design a bespoke office for such an ambitious forward thinking client, but Arden Square marks our second commission on Crewe Business Park for Radius. With a full understanding of the client, our task was to understand the needs of their new business unit and how the workspace needed to evolve for the post covid world. Our response was to create an inspirational work environment which encourages collaboration and wellbeing and provides facilities for colleagues across the park…”
The state-of-the-art building, which has been designed to institutional standards, is four storeys high and comprises two wings of workspace which flank a central amenity, meeting and circulation space. The workspace includes flexible work settings, variety of meeting rooms, and includes warehousing for testing and dispatch facilities. Amenities include a barista coffee station, pizza bar, and a rooftop ‘Star Wars-inspired’ sky bar which spills out onto a large external roof terrace. All are arranged around a conical 4-storey atrium which terminates with a roof light.
Phil added: “The building was delivered to a tight budget and has been realised to an exceptionally high quality of finish. The care and attention the whole design team have taken has helped craft a sustainable, flexible home for this exciting new part of the Radius family.”
