Creating a Plan for Urmston

Following several town centre regeneration commissions in recent years, we’re excited to share that we’re now playing our part in shaping Urmston town centre.
The aim of the plan is to future proof the town as a successful, sustainable and dynamic ‘place’ over the next 15 years. Sites the plan will cover include the former Urmston Market, Victoria Parade, the former bank on the corner of Crofts Bank Road, and the former Co-op Funeralcare on Station Road.
We recently concluded consultation on the project which included an in-person public consultation at Urmston Library in March, followed by an online consultation which concluded in June. Both formats sought views from respondents on what they liked and disliked about the town and what could be improved. The public consultation event alone was attended by 200 respondents.
Working closely with our client Trafford Council and co-consultants, Avison Young, Vectos and CW Studio, we will now analyse the response and ideas put forward by the community and look at creating a vision and plan for the area.
Cllr Liz Patel, Trafford Council’s Executive Member for Economy and Regeneration said in a recent press release: “It is important that local residents and businesses engage as we develop new plans for Urmston Town Centre. We want to ensure that a positive vision for Urmston is created that works for the community and businesses.
“Trafford Council is committed to improving all of our town centres including Urmston. The new Urmston Plan will set a framework for the town centre to meet the needs of residents and businesses now and in the future, and will form the basis to be able to apply for funding when it becomes available. Please do take this opportunity to have your say.”
The Urmston Plan is being developed with funding from the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
