Planning Submitted for Basford East, Crewe

Working with Muse, we’ve submitted a planning application for WestonM6 in Crewe – a sustainable new business park in the heart of the Basford East neighbourhood.
The hybrid application includes an outline application for the 39.45ha site and a detailed application for the first phase of industrial development – comprising three warehouses and totalling 750,000 sqft. The overall scheme comprises over 1 million sqft of logistics and industrial space.
From design to occupancy, sustainability and wellbeing have been at the heart of our proposals. The scheme has been designed to be BREEAM ‘Very Good’ and will maximise the sites green assets for a new wildlife ‘pocket park’, a 3-kilometre active walking trail and rich landscaping for use by occupiers and the community.
In addition to our architectural and masterplanning work, our integrated Sustainability Team collaborated with Muse to carry out a life cycle carbon assessment for the scheme. We visualised the embodied carbon within the proposed development and held a collaborative workshop to explore how the design and specification could evolve to achieve the most significant reductions in whole life carbon.
Alan McBride, projects director at Muse, said:
“At WestonM6, we’ve worked hard to design a sustainable place that complements the existing neighbourhood being created, unlocks vast areas of greenery to promote a healthy lifestyle, but importantly attracts significant inward investment and meets the demand for new jobs in the town. As a business, we’re committed to creating vibrant places that leave a long-lasting positive legacy to benefit communities and at WestonM6 we know we’ll achieve just that and build a brighter future for all in Crewe.”
