Adlington Walk, Stockport

Architecture

Adlington Walk is the first of series of linked projects which aim to revitalise the Merseyway Shopping Centre helping to create a modern and varied retail experience fit for the ever changing retail landscape.

The project seeks to repurpose existing poor quality space to create a new centralised customer hub which will integrate public amenities and offer interactive features providing information and services. The intervention helps set the tone of future projects and will improve permeability into the centre for pedestrians and those arriving by vehicles through the creation of an open landscaped link to the historic core of Stockport via new steps and graded paths. Internally the scheme will incorporate new flexible spaces, enhanced customer facilities including changing places facilities, enhanced accessible facilities, prayer rooms, nursing / baby change, and quiet spaces areas all of which will improve customer experience and help the centre appeal to a wider audience and families.
