Broadoak Road, Wythenshawe


A development of 7 new bungalows, including 3 fully wheelchair accessible homes, for client Wythenshawe Community Housing Group (WCHG).

We have been appointed via the JV North Framework to design and deliver this development of 7 new homes for social rent across 2 sites in the heart of Wythenshawe. The site adjacent to the Broadoak Road/Panfield Road junction will provide 4 no. 2-bed bungalows whilst the site adjacent to Broadoak Road/Honford Road will accommodate 2 no. 4-bed bungalows and 1 no. 2-bed bungalow.

The development aims to strengthen WCHG’s housing stock to provide much needed ground floor bungalow accommodation with no age restriction. 3 units within the new development have been designed to be fully wheelchair accessible and will help meet the huge demand for this type of property in the local area.

Both sites have been carefully planned in discussion with the client and the local Council to maintain as much amenity space on the sites as possible and retain existing trees. Where trees have been removed, WCHG have committed to replace these as well as plant new ones.

The bungalows have been carefully designed to reflect the character of the traditional red brick dwellings in their locality and are to be set within soft landscaping which is concurrent with similar styles in the local area. The building scale and building lines respect the streets upon which they are located.
