Regeneration Success at the Northern Housing Awards

We are proud to announce that our project at the Sale West estate in Trafford has been recognised with the ‘Regeneration of the Year’ award at this year’s Northern Housing Awards.
The aim of the Northern Housing Awards is to “shine a light on the individuals and organisations who make it their mission to improve homes and communities in the north”. We’re therefore delighted to see Sale West, and the team behind it, recognised in this way.
Working for client Irwell Valley Homes, we have developed the masterplan for the site and overseen the design and delivery of 46 new affordable homes to date, with a further 33 planned in Phase 1. Subsequent phases will deliver another 184 homes. Both the masterplan and the houses have been designed in response to extensive community engagement and address local housing need, promote sustainability and help minimise energy costs for residents.
Alongside our architectural role, we have also played our part in investing in the local community. We are delivering a range of social value initiatives including a 3-year sponsorship of Ashton on Mersey School via Class of Your own’s Design Engineer Construct Programme. Through this initiative, we have run an architecture club, hosted site visits and will soon welcome students to our office to learn more about careers in construction. We have also supported local residents group, Our Sale West, through various donations and support.
AEW Director, Colin Savage said of the award:
“It’s great to see Irwell Valley Homes, Our Sale West, and the wider team’s efforts rewarded with such a prominent housing award. The success is the result of many peoples hard work and we look forward to continuing our commitment to creating high quality, sustainable new homes across the estate.”
